Now this pandemic has caused us a lot of trouble and our regular life has gone for a toss. Opinions are flying around and this is an unpopular one. This is not to offend any group or any person.
All the things you hold proudly, is not that big of a deal
“You don’t belong here, I don’t like you because you don’t follow my religion, because we don’t look the same, because you choose to love somebody else, because you look different from me, because we don’t belong to the same ethnicity, because your people ill-treated my people, because your political leader doesn’t agree with mine, because we don’t make the same amount of money, because we are born in different social strata, because your career is different from mine, because you don’t believe in the same principles as I”
These are just few of the things we hear on a daily basis which breaks our harmony as people, things that do us more harm than good. As we have established earlier, man can be really bad, and there are certain things we take pride in. Religion, caste, ethnicity, sexual orientation, health, wealth, looks and the pride list just goes on. Sure, these are all great things to be proud about, but lately we have gone too far. Our pride didn’t stop at just a euphoric feeling, it spawned as hate, as disgust towards those different, our pride takes arms, hurt and even kill our fellow brothers and sisters. That’s where we crossed the line, that’s where we messed up as human beings. You read the news, about a man being killed! Why? Because he ate something? A sister raped! Why? Because she doesn’t worship your same God? You really think your god is going to be pleased with that? If he is, then you need a new God, might I suggest Jesus? You slit a man’s throat! Why? Because he doesn’t belong to the same cast? Which by the way we created. Why do we kill our brothers on the basis of divisions we created? You beat the life of somebody! Why? Because your skin pigmentation is different? You blurt out evil and hurtful things to a person! Why? Because they choose to love someone they like?
When are we going to realize that we have gone too far? The moment your pride spawns into hatred, it stops being pride. And you are nothing but a blind follower of an ideology someone speaks into you for their personal gain. Stop being a pawn for someone’s hatred, start loving, take pride in who you are and what you are but respect others too because you are not the only one with pride, the same pride you feel about who you are is the same pride they feel what they are.
Now this crisis, bought us to a different understanding. Now sure, there are still some people who behave with hatred towards others but to an extent, people were happy about helping others. We hear about a lot of good news from all over the world, people keeping aside their differences and helping. News of a lot of people send donations to those in need, and these money went to support a wide variety of people, even people whom you hated once, but the beauty of anonymous donations is that it even goes to your “enemies”. At that time, it doesn’t matter who is in need, our differences don’t matter anymore, our disputes don’t seem to be of importance, all we see is a human in need. Why can’t we be like this always? Why did it take a crisis to teach us love? Everything we held as matters of pride, doesn’t seem to matter now because, right now, we are all human beings fighting together to get through a storm as one race! United and if we keep going like this, I believe that we will Win!
