I Am The Storm

Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ The warrior whispers back, “I am the storm.”

We all come across storms in life, ones so strong that the waves will pull apart your entire life.  The storm raging violently, and we are helpless in the middle of it. You just don’t have what it takes to control it. I’m sure memories are coming to you like a flood. Where circumstances have seemed so great that we felt helplessly tossed in conditions we could not control. Where our security and happiness felt so hopelessly lost that we wondered if we’d ever get back on our own feet again.

During this chaotic storm, it may feel like you are alone. It may feel like nobody even cares about the storm you are in, and you don’t see a hand stretching out to hold yours. No sign of rescue, just storm and more storm. You can clamor and holler, but ain’t nobody coming. It sucks to be in that place. But situation like these builds something in the one going through the storm.

The point is to create a contrasting effect between the storm and the warrior. Warriors aren’t made in calm waters; warriors are not made in a boat at bay. When the waves come crashing, it is the warrior that is left standing. When the storm rises it shows you how much more powerful, He is than your storm. It’s to reveal that He is so at peace and so in control that your storm doesn’t bother his sovereignty one bit. And if it doesn’t faze him, then we can finally have peace in our storms with him.

Storms teach us one thing; your great opposition is not a delineation of God’s will; it is a great invitation to trust an even greater God to accomplish wonderful things. And in the darkness of the storm it may seem impossible to even focus on something other than the storm trying to wreck you, but if you can believe in the truth that, this storm is not the end of you, it is that point where you are realize, you are more powerful than you think, you are more resilient than what your friends think, you are who He says you are, a warrior.

When we have this confidence, we can look confidently at our burdens and shrug them off our shoulders because our burdens are on Someone’s shoulders who is much stronger than we are. Whatever you’re going through, there is a storm greater than the one you’re facing now, and his name is Jesus Christ. He is the sovereign storm over heaven and earth to whom every storm in your life humbly yields and submits.

Today, Whisper back, “I Am The Storm”
