The Biblical Worship is what the church needs today. To come back to true worship. David’s worship, what made him jump was the realization of who God was in his life. The harp, the lyre, the tambourine were all accessories but his worship did not come from that, it came from his relationship from the God who took him out of nothing and made him ruler of God’s people. Our worship must come from our relationship. The instruments, the melody and the showmanship, they all follow, those aren’t the reason you praise. If you can’t praise without the accompaniment of an instrument or the vocals of a “Worship Leader”, you need to rethink what you call praise. Praise only requires two things, God and You. Everything else makes your worship experience more beautiful. The greatest thing that sets us apart as Christians from every other religion is the fact that being a Christian is not about religion but relationship. I know this has been said a million times, but it is still such a beautiful truth.
We need to live in this truth and not just understanding it intellectually. This relationship is what life is truly all about. Our prize as believers in Christ is eternal life and this life does not begin when we die, but the moment we repent and accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. When you come to Christ, your worship begins. Through your actions, through your words and through your life. The very reason Jesus was born, died on the cross, and rose from the dead was to redeem us from sin and give us personal access to God through believing in Him.
We no longer need to be in a specific place or follow a specific set of “rules” to worship God; we can do so freely anywhere! “I need to worship because without it I can forget that I have a big God beside me and live in fear. I need to worship because without it I can forget his calling and begin to live in a spirit of self-preoccupation. I need to worship because without it I lose a sense of wonder and gratitude and plod through life with blinders on. I need worship because my natural tendency is toward self-reliance and stubborn independence.” I need to worship because I was made for it.
Let our worship be more than Anthems!
