“He loves our praise; it’s His conduit to break open heaven.”
Songs and testimonies encourage us, it motivates us but does it end there? Or does it inspire us? Not just, inspire us for a momentary expression of trust but a life time of conviction and utmost trust? How deep is our worship? Is it as deep as the final note of the latest worship song or does it go deeper to the love you have for God in the deepest of levels? What will it take the devil for you to quit worshipping? Does your worship have a price tag? Can it be bought?
The same book that told you to keep worshipping at all times also talks about a very interesting man who lived years ago. He was a very rich man and a righteous man. But Satan claimed that he was only righteous because he was rich. Satan thought he worshipped only because he has the wealth, Satan put a price on this persons worship, he schemed and thought he could buy it. The devil even had the audacity to accuse God of bribing and buying him off with blessings. He took it another step and accused this person of worshipping only because of the blessings he received. If the favorable circumstances changed, Satan assured his worship would cease and he would curse God to his face.
Satan put the price, God accepted the challenge. As a result, this man was caught in the crossfire of a cosmic bet. The Lord lifted his hedge of protection from around his life. Satan attacked his life. Satan went all in, in his price. Took even his own children and health. Bad news after bad news, by the end of the day, Job lost everything. This is not merely a story about another person. It is us, it is our story. It is our worship. If Satan puts out a price tag on your worship and comes at you all in, will your praise end or will you keep singing and praising like this exemplary man. This is the test of true worship. It is one thing to worship God when the sun is shining. It is another thing to worship God when the storm is raging. True worship is not fair-weather worship. True worship continues to worship God when the storms of life are raging. When there is a storm, the songs may not accompany, the testimonies may not carry forth, all you hear is deafening noise of helplessness and the melody that arises through it, that is true worship. No other songs come close to it. That right there is the real Billboard #1!
