Rolling stone doesn’t collect moss because it’s not there for long

A rolling stone, keeps rolling and it doesn’t collect the moss that’s on its path. We’re all Rolling Stones. (Sorry Mick Jagger). We all go through life and there’s nothing we can do to make life stop for a while. You either keep going or end it forever, since ending it isn’t a good option, we have no choice but to move on. Sometimes, no matter how much we try to avoid it, life hurts us. The very nature of being human is to feel, to experience life, and with that comes the ebb and flow of pleasure and pain.

The pain we experience in life can come in many forms and from many avenues. Often however, it isn’t the actual pain that ends up hurting us the most in life, but rather our insistence on holding onto that pain. How often in life when we perceive that someone has hurt us do we ruminate over the things they did or said? How much do we like to blame and shame them, all the while wasting our precious energy on thinking about them past? The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realise that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.

Sometimes, it feels as if there are hundreds of reasons not to move on. We hope that by holding on, we somehow have a chance of getting back to how things once were. But in most cases, this is impossible. So instead of desperately trying to hold on, it’s important for your physical and mental well-being to eventually let go of what happened and to move on with your life. It’s not easy, it takes guts, it takes the willingness to let go of every pain that’s crippling you, it sometimes means to forgive those people who only bring pain to you.

Life hasn’t gone as planned? It doesn’t for anyone. Move on. Focus on the good. Those who live amazing lives didn’t get, when things don’t work out they move on quickly and focus on the next positive. They drop the negative like a hot potato and focus on what they can do today to get in a better state. They don’t seek sympathy from family and friends they focus on what Is Good in their life, and let go of the negatives. The key to a good life is this: If you’re not going to talk about something during the last hour of your life, then don’t make it a top priority during your lifetime.

Maybe we should all take that advice. Your ego will tell you: “Once everything is perfect, then I’ll be happy” But your soul knows the truth: “Be happy, then everything is perfect” No, life circumstances won’t be perfect, but if you can get into the right space you can then get to the
understanding that everything happens for a reason and be at peace with that.

Sooner or later we’ve all got to let go of our past.
