“The cross is the school of love.”
The world ain’t missing the next big technological advancement, the world ain’t missing a species of super humans and super computers, it ain’t missing the perfect government or ruler, it ain’t missing dollars what it’s missing is love, what it’s missing is unity. A child who was beaten to death because he believes a different God needed love not a million dollars, the lady who was brutally raped needed love not the latest gadget, a group of people peacefully praying in a church that was burned down needed unity not the perfect ruler. We live in a world that loves to hate and hates to love. Thousands have fallen in this war on religion. When you look at your fellow citizen and if you can only see his religion and completely miss his life, his family, his ambitions, his dreams, his contribution to society, his friends, his future and his children then there is something wrong with you.
If your religion teaches you to hurt someone else, you got the wrong religion.
When every religion encourages its followers to make them compassionate then why atrocities on the name of religion are done even today? There are some people who use their scriptures in advocating hatred and intolerance to other religions. They break out a particular passage from its context to justify their actions, first actions are done then the people escort to the scriptures for the justification, no doubt it is an act of irreverence to the religious scriptures.
Why do we hate so much, why do we cast stones rather than sit together? Why can’t we accept one another for who we really are? The Cross showed us a truth, it showed us unity. It taught us everything we so desperately need to follow. It stood for everything the world is missing. It still speaks to us the one thing which is we are all the same, underneath the veil of religion, culture and language, we are all nothing but flesh and bone who deserves to be loved and respected, a beating heart that deserves love over everything else, who deserves to live in harmony over everything else, who aches to be shown a good time on this earth.
This season, can we be that? This season that celebrates the Cross, this season that celebrates the greatest sacrifice, this season that worships a man who showed us what love is, this season that celebrates and worship Love, can we be that to this hurting world? Can we be the reason the world celebrates love? If the cross shows us unity, we the cross bearers, how much more should we show it? There’s a world that needs the truth of the Cross, a world that so abjectly needs it, can we show it to them? Not just now, not just this season but every waking moment of our lives. This season will end in a few days, but let the fire keep burning in us, let Love keep flowing and let Unity keep bringing us together.
