“The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have”
We live in a world that judges us and the world judges you for everything. Now what’s inside of a person is much more important than what we see on the outside. That friend you just called fat? They have been starving & have lost over 20kg. That little boy you just called stupid? He has a learning disability & studies over 4hrs a night. That girl in your office you just called ugly? She spends hours putting makeup on hoping people will like her. The Boy in your class you just pushed down the stairs? He is abused enough at home. People are much more than we think they are, inside all that bravado and strength, is a person who struggles to face the world, who inches every day towards giving up, just hoping that someone would see them for who they are. Inside all, that eccentric and crazy outlook is a soul yearning for validation, is a heart beating to be just treated as a human being.
Vincent Van Gogh once said, “What am I in the eyes of most people? A nonentity, an eccentric, or an unpleasant person. somebody who has no position in society and will never have; in short, the lowest of the low. Alright, then. even if that were true, then I should one day like to show by my world what such an eccentric, such a nobody has in his heart. That is my ambition, based less on resentment than on love despite everything, based more on a feeling of serenity than on passion. Though I am often in the depths of misery, there is still calmness, pure harmony, and music inside me”
The world around us shares the same sentiment, there is a hurting soul inside most people we come across. Another person is hiding inside each of us, trying its best to come out, like a new baby in the womb. A world wrapped inside a broken persona, a universe of talent and beauty covered inside a scarred human being. And the world places a responsibility upon us to find the music within. Do we ignore those around us and write them off the way they appear or do we take that extra step to go that extra mile and find that beauty within the ashes? Do we see a broken heart and walk the other way or do we try to find the music hidden inside an eccentric persona? When we help someone else live their true life, the universe helps us find our truth.
What we do flows from who we are
