“Your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going, tough situations build strong people in the end”
In 1519, Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortez went to take over Mexico, in a conquest to loot the land, which was one of the richest at those days. He motivated his soldiers to go loot the land, and upon reaching the shore, he told his soldiers to ‘Burn the Ships’. Amidst the protests of his fellow men, he said, ‘if we are going home, we are going home in their ships’. With these, the men conquered the land and did something which was considered impossible for six centuries.
Why do we fail many times?, it’s because we don’t burn our ships. It is the level of motivation and commitment we need to succeed in what we do. If we know that our ships are out there, we tend to run back to it and take comfort. Because we are human beings, and we tend to embrace comfort when things don’t go our way. But when we identify those ships that don’t help us move forward, find it and burn it down. Commitment is the foundation of success. The world is made up of people who never gave up.
That book your Christian friends carry? Take some time to open it up and read. It is filled with stories of legends who simply didn’t quit. Tales of people who burned their ships, who looked back and said, ‘nope, that ain’t going to help me reach where I want to reach and more importantly where God wants me to reach’ and they went ahead and burned it down. One of the students of legendary professor Gamaliel, once said like this in his end times in one of his letters, ‘we will reap a harvest if we do not give up’. And this man was beaten and broken and he could have easily given up but he didn’t, and he still continues to be an inspiration for people world wide.
“Don’t be discouraged, it’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock”
Sometimes, we feel that deep soul weariness from long battles with persistent weakness and when pressure from multiple sources seem relentless. It’s tough, but it’s not impossible. The only way you can keep yourself from not quitting is realising that you can do it and in the end, when you look back you’ll know that it was all worth it. You reach a point of glory where you look back and see the burned ships that helped you reach thus far.
When you feel like giving up and running, turn back, burn the ships and get back in the fight. Because it’s the only way you get to be where you want to be and more importantly where He wants you to be. Because history is written by those who fought till the end and made it to the goal!
Burn your ships and with that fire light up your heart to never give up!
