“The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from Bible”
In this Series, as we wait for Christmas, we have looked at certain aspects. The next is Stronghold. The dictionary defines stronghold as ‘a fortified place’, though it has a different meaning in terms of military and war. Stronghold could be anything in your life, anything that stands as a hindrance for you, anything that prevents you from approaching the presence of God. Imagine buying an ocean view beach property and realizing that it has a giant wall, which do not allow you to see the ocean, what is the point of that house in that location? What do you do? You break it down! You kick the wall down, make it open so that you can enjoy the view that you paid for! Strongholds does the same to your life. They stand as hindrances, preventing you to see and enjoy the beauty of God. For those of you who aren’t rich enough to understand the beach property example, strongholds are anything that stops you from enjoying the true meaning of something.
This season of merry and gifts, take a little time to think about your life. What is that thing that stops you from being closer to God? It varies from person to person. It could be your addictions, sin, relationships, family, job or any such thing for that matter. Whatever it is, you have to break it down. It will be painful, it will take effort, it will take time, but it has to be done. Because if it isn’t broken down, it’ll prevent you from enjoying the most beautiful thing in life and if that is not possible, then what’s the whole point of living on this earth? Strongholds are difficult to pull down, but if victory needs to be assured, if peace needs to be established then the strongholds must fall. It maybe difficult, but it is not impossible.
Every hero or legend you see around once had a stronghold in front of them. Something that stopped them from being where they are, but they made the choice and effort to break it down. And part of their success story began with that breaking down. Everybody is weak inside, everybody is hurting inside, everybody has stronghold within them, but it all depends on what you are going to do about it. You can either stay where you are and always dream of a time without a wall before you or you can pick up that hammer and break it down and live that dream! Every moment that stronghold is before you, you are not able to be closer to God and be completely immersed in his presence. And as we have seen Hope, Restoration and Intimacy is only in his presence, and there is much more you’ll enjoy when you are with Him, and He is with you. The most beautiful place you can ever be.
Break down the strongholds before they get too strong and collapse on you!
