We live in a world with more than 800 social media platforms. Everyone of us have 1000s of friends across these social media’s. There is no shortage of these “friends”. But once all these apps are closed, when you face the real world how many friends do you have? Who is there for you to run to in a time of trouble? Which is that shoulder you can cry on? Who can you rant to about your feelings? If you have somebody to do all these with, you are part of a lucky few. Majority of the people out there don’t have these, all they have is virtual friends.
We live in a world that yearns for true friendship, for intimacy. The dictionary defines intimacy as closeness, a relationship you have with somebody where you can tell all your secrets and everything in your heart. And if you are somebody who reads this and thinks to yourself, ‘What? Is this possible? Where do I find it?’. Well, you’ve come to the right place. Have you had days in your life, when it feels like everything is happening the wrong way, and your life is just really bad and just when you think there can’t be anything worse and Boom! Something even worse happens? Days when you wish you had somebody to talk to and somebody to pour out your heart and to get peace, comfort and solace?
This season, though you are surrounded with sounds of joy and celebrations, there are people out there this season, who with all their heart wishes for intimacy. The place where you can get that is in the presence of that King who is lying in that manger. That baby was born so that we can be saved and be his children. God is waiting for his people to run to him and be in his presence, pouring our hearts out to him. Want to know how many friends you have? Shed a tear and see how many hands stretch to wipe it. And He is always there to wipe your tears.

There is not a single person in this world who is not hurt, and there isn’t a single person who doesn’t desire for intimacy. When things don’t go your way, you can always come to his presence and have an intimate relationship with him. You can always pour out your heart to him, you can go on and on about what’s in your heart and he is there listening, and unlike your regular friends, He can give you peace, comfort and answers to your questions. He enjoys it when you talk to him and let him know your heart, He never gets tired or bored listening to you. Sounds amazing, doesn’t he?
This season of reunions, parties and get togethers, if you are longing for intimacy, somebody to share your problems? Look no further, He is always there for you, with arms wide open and ears open for your words. All you have to do is just start talking to him! He is the greatest gift of them all, and when you have that gift, you are the luckiest of them all. As Augustine said, ‘To fall in love with God is the greatest of all romances, To seek Him, the greatest adventure; To find him, the greatest human achievement.’
This Xmas move out from familiarity and move into intimacy!
