Where Are You Christmas? (S4 E1)

“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.”

It’s Deck the halls time, it is mixing the eggnog time, it is the time of feast, of smiles and red everywhere, where your Spotify searched is filled with Michael Bublé and your Pinterest is filled with gift wrapping tutorials. There is a sense of joy that envelops us, a sense of happiness that overrules our heart and we don’t know where it comes from, but it comes and sometimes it has nothing to do with the baby born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. Sometimes it is just riding the bandwagon, everyone is happy so I’ll also be happy, everyone is joyful and I don’t want to kill the joy so I’ll also join them and ride the Christmas wave.

Phew! What a year it was. The world has been through hell and not exactly back! A little bit of covering faces, a little bit of hand washing and everything else in between that is not so nice. We have seen it all in the past 2 years. And we are all recovering from that. Some at a faster pace, some take their time. The pandemic has shifted everything, our thoughts, our emotions, our perspective on things, our social life, our spirituality, our beliefs and everything. The pandemic broke us down and made us a new one. And we don’t know what this new and improved version of ourselves is. And before you know it the season of Joy is knocking at our door, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

The world needs it more than ever. We need healing more than ever. We need Family and Friends more than ever. We need love more than ever. We need Hope more than ever. We need happiness more than ever. We need to come together more than ever. We need Jesus more than ever. We need Christmas more than ever. Like a ray of light in the darkness, like a soothing song to a mind that is broken, like a rain in the drought, we really need this season. And yes, it is much more than lights, food and presents and the real reason of it all is what we need the most. Sure, the color and glamour adds a lot of beauty but the true beauty lies not under the tree but on the tree and when the world accepts that fact the world becomes a better place. And as we wait for Christmas let our hearts carry that joy which leads us to a better place. Not just a better day but a better life.
