Dear World,
“We are in despair because we don’t know the Lord.”
“God you seem so far away”, “Where are you God”? The human race cries out this every now and then when things seem to be troubling. One prayer we all say when things go bad is, “God you seem so far away”, well, who moved? He didn’t! When things are looking up, we bid God farewell, because we don’t need Him when things are going the way we want. But the minute it starts to go haywire, we bicker and complain like God left us. People going around their whole lives telling there is no God and he doesn’t exist but the moment you are lying in your death bed, he becomes real. When we are healthy and well, well who needs God right? What do you expect Him to do when you turn your back on Him the moment things start going good?
The greatest thing about God is that He doesn’t behave with us the way we do to Him. This our journey is not a marathon. There are ups, downs, and unexpected turns. Though we may go back along a trail we have been travelling, the one thing we don’t want in our Christian journey is to forget who called us for this journey. We don’t want to abandon the creator and live life like He doesn’t exist. We go through pandemic, we go through a world that’s crumbling down, we go through a world with beaten morality, a broken economy, a troubled war and so on, and when we stand in this ruin we remember that we left God a long time ago.
“Life is wasted if we do not grasp the glory of the cross, cherish it for the treasure that it is, and cleave to it as the highest price of every pleasure and the deepest comfort in every pain. What was once foolishness to us a crucified God must become our wisdom and our power and our only boast in this world.”
Do we let God be our only boast in the world or is He just an occasional name that our mouths utter? Do we hold on to Him for our very existence or do we run to Him only when we need Him? Is he just a place for you to get your things done or is He the reason for your very existence? Does he dictate your every living breath or does he do a guest feature every now and then when trouble knocks on our door? Don’t we dare say He left us when we forget him throughout life, don’t you dare say He is far away when we’re the ones that ran away, don’t you dare say He’s sleeping on you when you are sleeping on Him.
Return to Him people because there is no Life without the giver!
Sincerely,
A Broken Christian
P.S. The letter doesn’t end here, it goes on, as the fight does!
