New Year! New Me?

“Every time you do a good deed you shine the light a little farther into the dark. And the thing is, when you’re gone that light is going to keep shining on, pushing the shadows back.”

It’s that time of the year where most of our resolutions flew past the window. And the ‘New Year, New Me’ is slowly fading away and where we’re taking comfort and getting cozy with the ‘old me’.

“Australian Fires”, “Global Warming on the Rise”, “WW3 knocking on the door”, and it’s just the first week of this year. We entered into this new year with a lot of hopes and joy, wishing everyone the same! But by the 4th day itself things are changing, the tension is rising, everybody is afraid, the world lives in fear. We duck each time something flies over our head, and it makes us question everything we do and believe in and it tends to shake our lives.

Life can get difficult as the days go by, we’re all looking around for a happy news. But no matter what happens around us, let it not stop us from doing good. Maybe you are the only one who is doing good, maybe you’re the only one doing good, maybe those around you are not interested in it, they may seem not to care but let it not bring you down. The people around, the news around, the situations around can all be discouraging but when we decide to rise above it, that’s when we see the world change. It takes guts and a lot of patience, but it’s worth it.

“Just pick a goal, a goal you truly want to achieve, and take a clear-eyed look at your weaknesses–not so you’ll feel less confident, but so you can determine exactly what you need to work on. Then get to work. Celebrate small successes. Analyze your weaknesses. Keep going. As you gain skill, you’ll also gain a feeling of genuine confidence, one that can never be taken away–because you’ve earned it.”

Now you may have to do this alone, but it doesn’t matter because in the end when you see the change around you, you’ll know that it was all worth it. This year, keep your resolutions, but let’s also make this world a better place. Because the world needs it, there are a lot of those around us waiting for a change, hoping that somebody would go good to them, and the world needs us. There may not be recognition, there may not be flashing cameras and roaring applause, but there is a God who sees and rewards it and it lasts much longer than the worldly rewards. Let’s change our lives so that we can change somebody else’s.

This New Year, let’s change our lives along with our calendars.
