“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or Hope”
In this Christmas series, the next thing we will be looking at is Hope. Hope is something everybody has, you may try to deny it but, as human beings, we all have hope in something or the other. Man can survive without water, food or shelter for days, but not a single day without hope. It is something that sustains the human race, from a crying baby in the poorest village to the man who has lost everything in the big city, the one thing which is common is that sparkle of hope in their lives. A hope that things would be better. Every crying child in the war-torn land has a hope that one day the world would be a better place, a place where they can live a life of serenity and peace. Desmond Tutu beautifully puts it as ‘Hope is the ability to see that there is light despite the darkness” Hope is the essence of life. Most of us can’t live a life of peace without having hope deep inside the heart. Human life is unpredictable, hard and is a challenge at times. Things don’t stay in our control, but Hope is something that helps us keep the fight on and improves the chances of making our lives better. Hope is something that gives our eyes a shining glory for an improved future. It is next to impossible for us to keep up with this inner faith, when storms hit life, during the most critical times, but it is those who never lose hope, which makes it till the end.
The birth of the Saviour was of great hope. The virgin birth amped up the hopes of the countless people waiting for the arrival of the promised Messiah. Now on that day, inside that Manger lied the One that became the beacon of hope for the entire human race. This Christmas season let us focus a little more on this savior, the one the Wisemen bowed down to. This joyous season, more than the lights and the songs, let’s search for the one who came to give us hope, the one who came to declare freedom, the one who came to set the captives free and to give the world a new meaning of Hope. The Hope that was born on that Manger 2000 years ago, is still in heaven looking down on us, filling the broken hearts with hope. A father to the fatherless, the one who fights the battle of the powerless, the one who loves the unlovable. So, if you are somebody who is just celebrating this season with brokenness and with no hope, take a look at that Crib and remember that the child lying there one day bore the sins of the world so that your hearts will be filled with hope. Hope took the form of a human so that we don’t need to face our lives alone and so thatHis hope will shine through our brokenness.
Christmas is the beginning of the living, of our living Hope!
