‘Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience’
In this fast moving, busy world of ours, we do not have time for anything. We want it all quick and without wait. We live in a world where the pizza reaches your door in less than 30 minutes, and where our phones work faster than our minds. Nobody is patient, we want it all done, and we want it done now! And there are companies (whose name shall not be mentioned) who motivate us to ‘Just do it’! Have we ever stopped, and thought, maybe ‘just don’t’? As children of God, it’s good to be motivated and to want to do things, but we should never forget the important question, ‘Is It God’s will’? We are so caught up in this fast-paced world that the busyness of the corporate and the everyday world creeps into our lives. As a child of God, we cannot let it take control of our lives. The world we live in maybe rushing, but the God who called you has a plan and it will only happen in His time, and sometimes it doesn’t happen overnight.
God’s will is like a jigsaw puzzle, sooner or later all the pieces will fit together. And all we need to do is, trust in Him. Its easy to do things on our own, it’s also very tempting to do things on our own, but that is not how the life in Christ works. If we could do things on our own, then we wouldn’t need a saviour. But He chose us and separated us, so that we completely trust in Him. The one who knows you more than yourself, will have the perfect plan for you. All we need to do is, trust in Him and wait patiently. Why do we need to seek God for everything in our lives? Well, for starters, He is sovereign over everything and He is the Lord of all. And the word of God clearly tells us that He has a plan for every chosen one. And when the Master of the universe has a plan for us mere mortals, why would you want to get in between that and mess it up. The Israelite’s conquered Jericho, which was a mission that was impossible, but God gave them victory. But lost to a town called Ai, which should have been an easy job for the mighty army, but they failed. Asking God for guidance is a very crucial element. When David asked God whether he should pursue the army, it was a sheer act of surrendering to His will. David was a warrior, a war hero, a decorated authority and if he needed to stop and ask God for guidance, we really should start considering it. So, the next time, you hear the world bombarding you with chants of ‘Just do it’, maybe stop for a moment and maybe ‘Just don’t do it’. Wait patiently and ask God for guidance, and to have God’s will in our lives and then just go and do it! Because we need to!
