“Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers”
Remember the time when you knelt down for hours praying for something, fasting for days and praying strong prayers that’ll bring the heavens down and still nothing happened? And then you just left murmuring to yourself, Why God didn’t answer that prayer? Why didn’t He crack open the heavens and send angels with deliverance? Well, it’s simply because it wasn’t according to His plan! We humans many times, with our limited understanding try to educate a God of unlimited knowledge and wisdom. The songs we sing, the testimonies we say are all so divine that it makes the apostles look like ordinary Sunday churchgoers. We sing and ask God to unveil His will and only His will in our lives and when he does it, we are not so happy and question the Creator of the universe.
The problem with our limited understanding is that our vision is also limited. The way we understand things or the way we comprehend things is within our limited understandings. But the God we serve is a God without limits. He saw your end before you began. And when He said that, ‘He will carry you till the end’, He meant every word. We are faced with rejection most times that we don’t see the bigger picture many times. Yes, He loves you, Yes, He sometimes doesn’t answer your prayers. No, it is not because he forgot you, it is only because he is redirecting you to a better plan. We are stuck up on the temporary roadblocks that come in our way that we lose focus on the greater glory in the bigger picture. We forget the big picture because we are always looking closely at the smaller things. The Bible has many examples where their requests were denied, but the stories don’t end there. Read a little further and we’ll know that that rejection redirected them to a greater blessing. If God had answered all our prayers, we wouldn’t be here. We don’t serve a God who is a yes man. We serve a God who is the reason behind our very existence and the one who calls the stars by name.
I am sure Joseph must have prayed when he was thrown in the well, or when he was sold or when he was in Potiphar’s house, but his prayers weren’t answered. For a person who hasn’t read the entire story would be thinking, ‘Hmm… what a cruel God’. But those who know the life of Joseph knows, that one of the reasons he became the Prime Minister of the greatest nation was because of all those unanswered prayers. So next time a prayer is not answered, don’t think He forgot you, he denied it because He remembers you and cares for you and He has something better and greater planned ahead. Just watch out for the bigger picture. Because the same hands that hold the stars, are the same hands that hold you.
