“There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins”
A Classic piece of literature by the great Shel Silverstein. This timeless classic talks about a place that is the end of the sidewalk, a place that leads us to another world, that opens up to a different world within the world we live in. A world that exists in spite of our ignorance. We are all the time consumed by the world and the life we have ahead of us. We live in a world that is moving fast, and there is no place that we can go to be relaxed and be happy. The thing we fail to do is to take a step back and use the mindset of a child in order to locate joy and happiness. Finding the place where the sidewalks end is not actually finding a real place. It’s all about achieving a good state of mind.Happiness doesn’t come to us, but it can only come from within us.
Happiness begins with what we think. If our thoughts are positive, and we think good about our self, others, and the world around us, our words and actions will follow our thoughts. But many times we lack faith in ourselves. We don’t believe in the good that can come to us because of our positive thoughts. We tend to believe in the things that are getting in our way are the stumbling blocks instead of the power within ourselves to capably handle life and all its surprises. After accepting that happiness is a choice we make and an attitude of mind, and when we change our attitudes from negative to positive, we learn that happiness is a state of mind and since we can create our state of mind, then we can create our happiness.
We are urged, for a moment to go away from the busy and dark state of our lives to a place, where the mind is at peace and our life is happy. To go to a place, that is the end of the things that eat our happiness and consume our state of mind. We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. To always carry ourselves around with happiness and goodness. To be happy and to spread happiness, and to be that person that leads others to the end of their sidewalk, to show them a world within their world that they have always lived in ignorance about. Happiness and a good state of mind can be created by external factors that have influence in our life, but most importantly a state of mind can be created by ourselves. We hold the key to the happiness that lives inside of us.
To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders!
