The Dance Awaits

“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance”

Change is an unavoidable constant in our work lives. Sometimes it’s within our control, but most often it’s not. As human beings one thing we fear the most is simply change. Wise men have always told us that the only constant is change and that remains a universal truth. Change is something nobody wants to accept but if history teaches us anything, it’s that change is inevitable. From season to time, it changes without fail. And we as a race aren’t really that nicer towards change. Sure, there’s always a few that’s really fine with it but there’s always a majority that has some objections.

From the beginning of time mankind has been averse to change. When our thinking is questioned and it requires change, we are uncomfortable. Early man thought that the Sun revolved around the earth, and they were fine with it but when someone came along and questioned that thinking it took a lot of time with a lot of protests from a lot of powerful people to accept that. Nobody likes to change their thinking, their way of knowledge. We are fine with how we think and what we think and how we act up on that thought and would want nobody to question it because it means that we are wrong and come on, who likes that. And since our minds and personality is wired to be true to our beliefs, it runs in our system, and we apply that to every aspect of our life.

We thoroughly dislike change and when we are presented with an opportunity for change, the anti-change factor reflects as fear. We start to get afraid of what’s ahead of us, we start to get curious and that always comes out as reluctance. We stand at the door for a change, and we just stand there, our hands don’t move, we don’t want to know what’s on the other side of the door, we are afraid of it. Maybe you are standing at that door, clenching your fists with nervousness because you do not know how the thing inside is going to be like.
Well, there ain’t no point standing out, what you have to do is open that door, get in and see what that side of life is like. You might not like it or maybe, just maybe you like what’s happening inside and you realize you would have missed something that would have haunted you for the rest of your life. Victory is not for the ones waiting at the door, it’s for the ones kicking it open and joining the dance inside.

Outside is not where tomorrow is
