“Acquire a peaceful spirit, and thousands around you will be saved”
Dear World,
The world around us is burning down, cries of the fallen, the despair of the wounded, the tears of the lonely, and amongst all this peace becomes a dream of the wildest nature. And in the process of dragging ourselves through a crumbling world, it becomes a great labour to attain a peace of mind. But what we forget is that in this world is that for us to get through this, we need a peace of mind, a mind that knows tranquillity, a mind that is able to refresh itself on a continuous basis.
The Seraphim of Sarov once wrote,
“Drink water from the spring where horses drink. The horse will never drink bad water.
Lay your bed where the cat sleeps.
Eat the fruit that has been touched by a worm.
Boldly pick the mushroom on which the insects sit.
Plant the tree where the mole digs.
Build your house where the snake sits to warm itself.
Dig your fountain where the birds hide from heat.
Go to sleep and wake up at the same time with the birds you will reap all of the day’s golden grains.
Eat more green you will have strong legs and a resistant heart, like the beings of the forest.
Swim often and you will feel on earth like the fish in the water.
Look at the sky as often as possible and your thoughts will become light and clear.
Be quite a lot, speak little – and silence will come into your heart, and your spirit will be calm and filled with peace.”
Now this seems like it’s out of a fairy tale and we think to ourselves, nah not a possibility. Sure, it may not be literally possible but what each of this line tells us is that one can always achieve peace because it is given to them, it’s only a matter of finding the right source. Achieving peace is just a matter of finding the right source, and He granted it to you in abundance on that Cross.
Now many people think that peace of mind is only possible for the elite, the rich and celebrities who has nothing to worry about, those who don’t go to bed thinking about how their kids are going to be fed the next day or how the bills are going to paid next month. But peace is not the property of the rich and the successful, peace is from within and it’s for all. Never associate peace with wealth and success, it is for anyone who strives for it. A saviour climbed the cross so that you can also get it, and he grants it to anyone who asks for it, why don’t we? He can’t wait to give it.
Sincerely,
A Broken Christian
P.S. The letter doesn’t end here, it goes on, as the fight does!
