“Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose”

And before we realise, another year just went by right in front of our eyes. We may have gotten a glimpse of it at times, forming into beautiful memories and those precious moments may stay in our hearts for years to come. Maybe you turned your face to whatever was happening because you just didn’t want it to create a memory in your life that is painful, which would simply remain there, haunting for years to come. The makeup of your year maybe hazy but like it or not it has come to an end. With all of its noise and clamour it has gone. And when that year which you held dear to you for a couple of hundred days go by, we are left with a million dollar question, How is the next one going to be? A question we wish we had an answer to, a question we yen was nothing but positive. But again, standing at the end of a certain year and the beginning of an uncertain one, can’t help but look forward through the lens of diffidence.

And the obvious answer which is in the air, and from the countless number of wishes on our social media’s tell us to be hopeful for what’s coming. Look forward to the next one, and some take it a step ahead and say it’ll be the best one of yours. But when reality hits you harder than anything ever will we realise, it’s not that easy to be hopeful. It ain’t that easy to let go. You may truly want to from the bottom of your heart that desires all that’s well and hopeful, it just simply isn’t that easy. Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life.

All the hurt of the last year is behind us and those painful memories in the rear view mirror is further than they appear, it is not coming back. And we can only enter into the next one with absolute certainty of letting it all go and just trusting yourself to believe in what’s coming. Whatever the year ahead holds, we need to face it with grace, if we can march on to the unknown terrains of tomorrow, there’s a presence that marches with you. And that presence will be with you in all that you come across.

Here’s to the journey up ahead, Onward ‘24!
