I Am > I Was

“The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday”

We all wake up, live the day, get on with our lives and we all try to be somebody or something in life. We are all busy climbing the ladder of success, but when we reach there we don’t know what we’re climbing after and it’s all gets confusing up there. We are all in the pursuit of becoming something or like somebody, trying to be better at what we do. It’s great and it’s something more people should begin to stat doing. Many times in this pursuit we tend to get comfortable, we tend to cozy up and try  to remain the same. Because at the end of the day, life is all about growth. If there is no growth, then there is no life. Ask your friendly neighborhood doctors or biologists, they would affirm it.

Growth can be anything, we get wider understandings on things as days go by. We gain more clarity on who we are and what our purpose is. Things may not always go the way we plan, but that’s fine, because as long as we are moving forward, it doesn’t matter. We tend to compare our lives with those around us, people whom we think are more successful and greater than us and this hinders us from getting better. All we need to focus on is being the better versions of ourselves. The world changes, the people around us may change and these may intimidate us, but as long as we are focused on doing greater things that makes us happy and makes you a better person, then that’s all that matters. The thing that we must be focused on is to do something that’ll make your today better than your yesterday. If we enter into a constant war and competition with ourselves, then there is no stopping us. Choosing to be stronger and better than yesterday is not easy, it takes guts and determination and time. You don’t change overnight, you take time but with patience comes a better tomorrow. When we change and try to be better each day, it gets even better when we try to do the same somebody else. When we assist in making the life of somebody else better, we in turn adds glory to our today. Real happiness comes from knowing that your today is better than yesterday, and you were part of somebody who’s day is changed because of an act you’ve committed. When in the end of the day you can look into yourself and say that you are better than who you were yesterday, then Mission accomplished!

Choose to be better today than you were yesterday!
