“It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts”
In this world, we tend to lead our lives with regrets, troubles and lots of other problems that don’t let us live life to the fullest. It discourages us, pushes us down and makes us wonder our whole life. Many people just exist in this world, in this constant race to exist, they forget to live. Almost all of our thoughts, questions and worries revolve around things that either happened in the past or might happen in the future, in this constant battle between what had happened and what could happen, we lose our present, and we deprive ourselves of our today. We lose our lives to this battle between regrets and anticipations. Worrying about the past and the future is a vicious circle in which we lose, it occupies our minds and thoughts and don’t let us live. When we come to a point where we can forget and overcome these thoughts and regrets, is the moment where we start to live life. The secret to living life is when you learn to accept the past and prepare yourself to embrace the future with courage. At that moment, you begin to live life. But again, it’s easier said than done. It’s a slow process, it takes multiple, constant and deliberate efforts. But we must try to do it because living your life to the fullest, in this very moment, cannot be accomplished when we are mentally living in the past and continuously visualizing all the golden opportunities you’ve missed throughout your life.
“The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have” And if most of our lives can be summarised in these three words, then we forgot to live life. It’s time to make some changes. You only live once, and life is tragically short. Happiness takes time and effort. When we understand that we have a short time on earth, we start to live life. Though we know it, we tend to not understand it. “What is born will die, what has been gathered will be dispersed, what has been accumulated will be exhausted, what has been built up will collapse, and what has been high will be brought low.” these are the words of Sogyal Rinpoche. When you understand that you have a limited time here on this earth and that is when you realise that you’re not going to live forever you will start to live each day to the fullest loving and start appreciating yourself more, your life and the world around you and making the best of everything life has to offer you.
So, don’t just exist, Live!
