‘There is no assurance in life, it is only God that gives assurance’
A world, where a lot of people live everyday, with no sign of assurance and no way of hope. Sounds familiar? It’s the world we live in. We live among people, who don’t exactly have an idea on what’s happening around them, people with nothing to trust in and living without this beauty of assurance. Most often many of us are concerned and burdened with cares and difficulties of life. And most of the times, it is the needless concerns that bother us and keep us up at nights. These worries and concerns leads us to discouragement, and sometimes it even leads us to a point of hatred towards life itself. People hate their lives, trying to destroy it and even trying to end it. All because they cannot find assurance, somebody to put an arm around their shoulders and say, ‘It’s fine! It’s going to be alright’. Nobody to comfort them or give them a word of assurance that things won’t be the same, it’ll change and point them to the source from where change comes from. Assurance is found nowhere else but God! It’s a truth that the world should know and the truth that will make the world a better place.
Author Tullian once wrote, ‘Assurance never comes from looking at ourselves. It only comes as a consequence of looking to Christ’. The one that can give you assurance is lying in that manger this season and we sit around it and sing carols, most of the times not knowing, what we are missing out on. What this world needs today is a savior who will love them, a father who will care and a friend who can give them a word of assurance, Letting them know that whatever happening to them is not the end of things, but the beginning of a greater blessing. We get discouraged and troubled in the slightest hint of a storm, we think of it as the end of it all, little do we know that it is the beginning of something greater. The beginning of an assurance that greater things are yet to come. We all aspire to have that level of confidence or hope in someone or something, and we trust the people around us and when they fail, we give up hope and everything and we distrust the whole idea of assurance and it pulls us down. But Jesus never fails! It is a truth that is eternal. A truth that the world needs to hold on to, a truth that will make the world a better place, the truth that should sound loud in this season, a truth that we often neglect! This season as we get ready to celebrate the birth of that baby, let’s also remember and trust in the assurance that baby is going to give for humanity! As the stars light and the trees filled with decorations, if you are somebody who is yearning for a comforter and a word of assurance, look no further! He’s there with open arms, waiting for you to run to him and tell him what’s in your heart so that he can fill your heart with words of comfort and assurance!
Mary didn’t know, but now you know that, that little boy can calm a storm with his words!
