”He who worships God for the sake of something else does not worship God; he worships that which he desires to obtain through God… Love Him gratuitously; expect nothing from Him except Himself.”
Jesus is the point of Heaven. He is the most beautiful thing about heaven. Yes, there are beautiful rivers, there are roads made of gold, precious stones adorn the architecture, the most beautiful flowers and creatures make the garden even Picasso can’t paint. It is and it will be the most beautiful thing our eyes will have the privilege of seeing. But above it all, there is someone, who is the most beautiful of them all. For us, that is the most important moment in heaven. The moment I get to see Him face to face. Just picture that moment. Even top selling Christian singers couldn’t picture it perfectly, we can only keep imagining. What it would be like.
Yes, I might also meet my wife who was the love of my life who passed away. Yes, I might be able to hold my child once again, who was taken from us in his childhood. Yes, I can hug my parents once again and feel their love. But, will you? Will you be running to them? I don’t think so. Your glorified body will sprint to the most beautiful one of them all. The one you spend your entire life adoring, the one you spend your entire being worshipping and honouring, that is who you will run to. It is not about the friends or family you will be the most excited about, it becomes all about the face to face, intimate encounter with the darling of heaven. That is the highlight! That is the main attraction, that He will be there! I will see Him face to face! And I will not be burned because of my glorified body. And, it is not just an appearance that excites us, it is the permanence. I am not going anywhere. I will be right here, I am not going to be taking my eyes off Him. Write that, paint that, sing that, film that, dance that and you will never even capture the surface of that moment. The moment is made beautiful by His mere presence.
The final moment of all that waiting. The conclusion of all that enduring. The crescendo of the pain and suffering I had to go through will all be worth it, just for that one second. It will all be worth it, for just one glance. But yet, we are not rewarded just a glance, we are rewarded an eternity. For that moment, I will sing ever louder, I will dance even more undignified.
