Universal Problem

“This is God’s Universe and God does things His way. You may have a better way, but you don’t have a Universe”

It’s been the problem since the beginning of the universe. Man trying to upstage God. From the Garden, to the Tower to the Pyramids to the Pantheon to the Intelligence, man has always tried to one up God, trying to prove his dominance to a God who by very nature is always above man. But mankind’s pursuit of greatness that surpasses the creator still continues, futile in every way but yet never ending. Scholars, philosophers, thinkers, scientists all doing their part to contribute to the Great Divine Upstaging and yet always comes short.

And it is quite fun to be on the other end of the debate looking down on all those people who look down on God and it gives the “believer” a sense of pride and a “ProGod complex”. And while we peruse the works of those who are trying their best to make God not that big of a deal in our high and mighty tower, we forget the fact that in our daily Christian life, we do the same thing.

Sure, some people use science and math to question the Divine, but we the “believer” ironically use our beliefs to question this God. We believe in His existence yet we don’t trust in who He is. The doubting believer still sits on the high and mighty throne of pride. In a crowd of people who devout their lives doubting the existence of a Supreme Being, you can sometimes find me “the believer who doubts”, irony sometimes dies a thousand deaths. Sure, I don’t use science, math or any arguments to ever question a God, how dare I do that to the one who gave His life to save me. Never.

But, but trusting Him to know what’s best in my life? Maybe let me take a minute think about it and analyse all the possibilities. Surrendering my life completely to Him so that He can fulfil his will in my life? Well, I’m not very sure. But I would never question who God is. The Hypocritical believer thinks he is above the doubting scientist. Unless and until I give up complete control to the one who holds the universe, my faith in Him sometimes stays merely in words. I might think I know better but can I design a universe with just words? I might have this notion that I might be able to plan my life better, but will I go on the cross without question, endure the most brutal punishment for my friends? I may have this false sense of control over things but do I really? You can bet everything you have, I don’t. The last time I checked, the signature on the title deed of the universe still reads Yahweh!
