The Accused

Christmas is a season of profound joy and sacred remembrance. It is the celebration of a gift beyond human comprehension, the coming of Jesus Christ, the Savior, into a world darkened by sin and separation from God. The baby born in a humble manger in Bethlehem, the eternal Son of God took on flesh, entering into our humanity to bring hope and salvation to all. In the stillness of that holy night, the cries of the infant Jesus echoed a promise that had resounded through the ages: God’s unyielding love for His creation. The angels proclaimed peace on earth and goodwill toward humanity, for the long-awaited Messiah had arrived to fulfil the prophecies and restore what was lost. Yet, in all its glory, the manger still pointed towards the cross. Jesus, though blameless and pure, would grow to bear the weight of humanity’s sin, a burden none of us could carry. In His great love, He lived a perfect life of obedience to the Father, offering Himself as the spotless Lamb. At Calvary, He bore the punishment that was ours, taking on the sin of the world so that we might receive the righteousness of God.
Born to suffer, born to save. That was his life, accused by the highest authorities for sins of the highest order punished for us. He took it all knowing that it would be the death of him, in the most violent way. This Christmas, remember the red, the blood on the cross.
This is the miracle of Christmas: that the child born to Mary was the Savior born for us. More than the commercial colour and lights of the season, the meaning that stays with us is simply, Through His life, death, and resurrection, He bridged the chasm between heaven and earth, making a way for us to be reconciled to the Father. As we get closer to the day, surrounded by loved ones, or the ones you love, exchange gifts, and reflect on the beauty of the season, let not the greatest gift be forgotten, of all the love of God made manifest in Jesus Christ. In Him, we find forgiveness, freedom, and eternal life. He came to do something we never could, he chose to do something we never would. May our hearts echo the hymn of the angels, “Glory to God in the highest,” and may we carry the light of His love into a world still in need of redemption. For unto us a Savior has been born, Christ the Lord, who bore our sins so we might live in the fullness of His grace.
