“Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.”
With Christmas, it’s easy to get so busy with the cooking, decorating and shopping that we forget why we’re doing all this in the first place. Sometimes, the very people we love get lost in the hustle and bustle of packed schedules, holiday parties, and Christmas musicals. We get so focused on putting on a show we forget the beauty of living in the moment, to take this season in. To let the meaning of the month change you and transform you. Christmas is not just a day, but a heartfelt reminder to cherish the warmth of family and the joy of being surrounded by loved ones. Amidst the festive cheer and merry celebrations, let’s treasure these moments together, creating lasting memories that illuminate our hearts with love, laughter, and the true spirit of the season. As we celebrate the magic of Christmas, let’s remember that the greatest gift we can give is love. And there is a special happiness in embracing the beauty of the season by spreading kindness, compassion, and joy to all those around us. And if we can remind ourselves that this day is a reminder to cherish and appreciate the love that binds us together, making every moment merry and bright we just might have a happy holidays after all.
“If I decorate my house perfectly with lovely plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights, and shiny glass balls, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals, and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another cook. If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing. If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties, and sing in the choir’s melody but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.
Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn’t envy another home that has coordinated Christmas decor and table linens. Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of your way. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can’t. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust. But giving the gift of love will endure.”
