“When you have more than you need, Build a bigger table, not a higher fence.”
We often tell ourselves to burn down bridges, but sometimes we forget how important those bridges are. We used that bridge to cross, and once we are on the other side, we think about burning it down, we don’t think about how it can help another person cross. Bridges help us get from where we are now to some other place in our future. Bridges are ways across those barriers to the implementation of new practices. Everyone is busy building walls and fences high, that the important thing we forget is that it is more important to build bridges than to build fences. Happiness begins from the moment you do something for others. Those who consistently help others, are happy, they come across obstacles in their lives, but they always know something will turn up, and it is all going to end well, because they were once the reason for someone else turning out fine. From the scientific point of view also it is great, research indicates that they are less stressed, and experience improved mental health.
Despite the many answers and statements we try to give one of the main purposes of life is to serve others. However, when doing so, you should not expect something in return; the reason we help someone out should always be to lessen their misery. “Service to others should be sincere and done from the heart; only then will it be fruitful.” No tree eats its own fruit. As human beings who share this earth with others, we should not only use our mind, body and skills for ourselves but also serve others. When we do this, we become good citizens of this earth, and it is rewarding. “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”, these are words of Winston Churchill that makes our lives more meaningful. To not just make a living, but to create a life, to impact a life, to be the joy in a life.
It should always be one’s constant inner intent to help a fellow human being in need. As legends say, ‘A person is known not by his name but by his actions.’ Thus, it is the actions that show the real characteristics of a person.
Everyone is born to do something great. We are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning, it is also very important that we be a helping hand to a somebody in need. To put a smile on somebody’s face, to be a reason that someone out there is happy.
We rise by lifting others!
